Big Data, BYOD, The Cloud…it’s all a waste!

cloud-computingCIO’s have long been known for navigating the competing demands of innovation, security and budgets.  On one hand, they have the business calling for BYOD/BYOC solutions and on the other they are being told to automate and strecth their budgets.  As social media continues to grow across the enterprise, VDI and big data solutions are adding to the growing portfolio of challenges on his/her desk.  Setting the strategy and negotiating some of those deals will often fall into their space, but there are a number of activities that often get delegated down but have incredible impact on the overall organization.    One key area that can provide tremendous value add is in the procurement/vendor selection space.  Visit our recent post on the various RFx Stages and download our free white paper “8 Common Vendor Selection Mistakes & Ways to Overcome Themto ensure you are maximize your competitiveness at this stage.  The other area we wanted to talk about briefly was in the project management space…our wheelhouse.  While many organizations leverage individual project managers and some even have well established PMOs, these are entities that tend to be a level or two from the CIO.  Unfortantely, even with an increase in certified project managers and the agile movement, most organizations are still not realizing the benefits of effective project management.  You would probably expect to here that from us, so we shared a video below from our friends at OneDesk to illustrate our point.  While we have great respect for OneDesk, KPS is not a re-seller of their solution and had no part in the making of this short video.   As you watch this, keep in mind how much money is being wasted by ineffective project management.  All the effort you spend to secure the most advantageous terms from that OEM could be down the drain if you don’t have a proven project leader at the healm.  Certifications don’t gaurantee success and while general recruiters can source developers and engineers, they are not effective at screening the unique role of project management.  Get our white paper for improved vendor selection and then contact us today and get the right project manager in place to capatlize on that vendor selection and execute the strategy you have in place.
